Why We Like DreamHost Web Hosting

In the past we've changed web hosting companies only twice, and the last move before this one was years ago. A large site like this needs high performance servers and very reliable connections, all at a fixed price. We choose our hosting companies very carefully, after a lot of research, and only move if we have to, or if the advantages are really big.

We were very happy with our previous hosting company, 100% uptime, fast connection speed, cPanel and WHM included, multiple domains, good technical support and all the things you expect from a good hosting company. However when we started to use all our allocated bandwidth every month we had to choose between seeing a lot of 'Bandwidth Limit Exceeded' errors, paying unpredictable excess bandwith charges, or finding a better solution to our growing pains.

So we went looking at all the current offerings, followed a lot of links, read a lot of specs and price lists, and eventually set up a trial account at Dreamhost because they met all of our most important criteria.

• The second criteria was that the service had to be technically at least as good as the one we were currently using, and here we were pleasantly suprised during the trial period to find a whole new world, a higher level of hosting technology.
• The third requirement was a good control panel, and the DreamHost control panel is awesome! If you like cPanel, WHM or Plesk, you'll really like the custom 'DreamHost Web Panel', it's very intuitive, flexible and well documented.
• Customer support is also very important and here we found everything we needed, DreamHost has it's own support wiki, discussion forum, blog, newsletter, and free email support if needed. [We've only needed it once and it seems to work fine]

To cut a long story short, after the trial period we committed to an initial one year hosting plan, and now, as customers we're big fans of Dreamhost.
