multimedia section
The global multimedia section will contain directories of live web cams, panoramic virtual tours, photo galleries, aerial and satellite photos, maps (interactive and printable), flags, music, video, and TV. We're currently building the databases and content for this section, it's a huge job and will take a while. Until then below are a some mashups that we and others are working on plus links to some multimedia resources around the web.
Satphotos & Images
This is a classic mashup where destinations and features of interest are plotted on Google satphotos, you can zoom in and out or scroll around the world.
What's really interesting about this one is that the information is all user contributed and tagged plus photos of the destination and related tags are shown as you mouse around.
The example at right is a little limited due to size constraints, if you like the concept click here to open the mapsack.com site in a new window or tab
TIP: Hover over a photo and the destination will light up, click on either a photo or a marker to center the feature on the map. Click on a tag to see all similarly tagged markers.

Day & Night

Google Satellite Map
Looks very basic at first but you can scroll around and zoom in on a lot of places in the world using this map. In an ever growing number of countries you can get right down to street level.
TIP: You can drag the map around or double click on a point to center on it and then zoom in using the slider bar.
