After conquering paths over the edges of the Andes mountain tops, we are welcomed by making our way down into the Sacred Valley, as we follow our way along the Urubamba river. Our tour guide, Marco, shows us a plant which the Inca's were able to create string and tie cloth, because of how tremendously strong its fibres are. We also find some wild cotton and Fil finds an air plant that grows without soil. 2:23 - To cross the Urubamba river (or Sacred River) we utilize a man-powered cable car crossing operated by an adorable local family; which required everyone to pull each other across in a small metal basket, for a cost of 5 Peruvian Soles each ($1.50 USD) 2:56 - At the end of full day of intense hiking, the Earth Unraveled gang arrives at the relaxing Santa Teresa hot springs, where everyone was more than happy to jump into and get off our feet. Way off the beaten path, this hot spring is a favourite among locals and the most dedicated backpackers, as the majority of tourists who travel from Cusco to Machu Picchu by train miss this wonderful opportunity, and tend to crowd up in the smaller springs available in Aquas Calientes. 3:46 - Lastly, we pause the adventure for a brief word from our good friend Peter, of Peter's Hammocks. This crazy hammock salesman is on a mission to sell you and everyone you know a hammock, and rightfully so. Because who doesn't love a great hammock, right?
